Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Jami—your guide on this transformative journey. I am the founder and owner of Magic Lamp Dance Studio, a master teacher with over 17 years of experience, a retired medical practice administrator, former fitness instructor, eternal student of fitness and functional nutrition, a Certified Public Accountant, and a loving GiGi to three beautiful grandchildren. IIn 2023, my life looked full and successful from the outside. I had just retired after 23 years as a practice administrator, started my own accounting business, and continued running my belly dance studio, Magic Lamp Dance Studio. I loved my clients and my students, and we even brought home a poodle puppy, Rosie, at the end of the year. To everyone else, things looked great. But inside, I was exhausted. Between 2022 and 2023, I lost several important people in my life—family members, my personal trainer of 16 years, and a mentor I had worked with for 24 years. My last months at work were brutally stressful. Family issues kept flaring. And as my responsibilities grew, my self-care shrank. I started eating more sugar and processed foods, cut back on exercise, and fought constant fatigue. I remember sitting at my desk, struggling to stay awake, barely recognizing myself in the mirror. Then, on February 8, 2025, everything changed. What I thought was a stomach bug turned into a medical emergency. I ended up in the ER, where a CT scan revealed a ruptured appendix and a small bowel obstruction. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and spent nine days there—two of which I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. Lying in that hospital bed, I thought about my life, my choices, and all the times I had put myself last. I prayed, “If you let me out of here, I promise I’ll take better care of myself.” Recovery wasn’t easy. I cleaned up my diet, but inflammation and GI issues persisted. I was so tired I could barely function for more than two hours at a time. Then I found out my gallbladder wasn’t working. It felt like setback after setback. But my family, friends, and dance community kept me going. The turning point came when I decided to take full responsibility for my healing. I dove into functional nutrition, breath work, prayer, meditation, nervous system regulation, and belly dance. I worked on my own personalized holistic system using real food, strategic supplements, movement, and stress management. Almost immediately, my body began to heal—my inflammation went away, my brain fog lifted, and my energy returned. By mid-March, I was teaching again and working half days. By mid-April, I was 90% healed. After gallbladder surgery, I bounced back quickly. And in early June, I danced six hours a day for three days straight at a workshop in New Orleans—logging 20,000 steps a day and feeling incredible. Today, I know exactly how to nourish my body, regulate my emotions, set boundaries, and protect my health. I can walk away from sugar without struggle. I can handle stress without spiraling. I feel strong, calm, and in control. And now I’m sharing my story because I don’t want other women to wait until crisis forces them to change. We work WITH your body where it is right now. The stretching and movement are gentle and designed to improve flexibility over time—not require it from day one. Q: What if I can't make the live sessions? A: Every live session is recorded and available for replay within 24 hours. However, I strongly encourage you to attend live when possible for the community connection and real-time support. Q: How much time do I need to commit? A: Plan for 60 minutes weekly for the live session, plus 2-3 short practice sessions (20-30 minutes each). Total: about 2-2.5 hours per week. All content is available 24/7 so you can fit it into your schedule. Q: I have [specific health condition]. Is this safe for me? A: The movement is gentle and low-impact, but please consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise or nutrition program.
